Giving Myself a Chance to Become My Future Self

“Your vision of where or who you want to be is the greatest asset you have. Without having a goal it’s difficult to score.” — Paul Arden

5 years ago I didn’t have a vision and even was afraid of dreaming big. Back then I just started running in order to lose weight and to give running one more chance. My goal was simple — learn how to run 40 minutes without stopping in 8 weeks.

After those 8 weeks magic happened — I was able to run 40 minutes. At that moment I asked myself, what if I can run more? I found another training plan, trained, and so on. Once I became a marathoner — I felt like I can reach any goal. So I set a crazy goal to qualify for Boston Marathon and to race that historical race. So I did.

“Your goals shape your identity.

Your identity shapes your behavior.

Your behavior, over time, becomes your personality.

That’s how it works.

The question is: What are your goals?

What is the “purpose” shaping your current identity and behaviors?

Purpose trumps personality.” — Benjamin Hardy

When you set a goal and promise yourself to reach it, while applying appropriate effort, you build your confidence and become stronger and more powerful.

As my confidence level growth, so are my goals and my vision. I see my future self as an elite marathoner. Even if it may seem that I am very close and yet very far from my goal, it doesn’t scares me. I want to do everything possible to reach my goal. I want to give myself a chance, I want to try.

Several months ago my husband and I decided that we both want to move from Austin, Texas to Boulder, Colorado. Boulder is a well known place in the world as sports Mecca, where best world athletes train and live. So we started planing and doing everything possiblle to make it happen. Now we are here in Boulder. Now we can live and train in our dream place.

Boulder has some kind of magical vibe here. I feel like fish in the water here. I am runner and this is my happy place.

I believe in myself and I am giving myself a chance to live my best life. One day I want to become an Olympian, even though it is so scary to say out loud and many may say it is not possible for regular non elite runners. I want to try and I want to inspire you in my journey.
